Winning at Women’s regatta
We absolutely smashed it at the Henley Women's Regatta 2025! It was an incredible performance for RUBC, and we walked away with two championship wins and all 7 of the crews powering through qualifiers – talk about a dominant display!
Two Champ trophies for RUBC!
We won both the Borne Trophy for Championship Quadruple Sculls and the W Peer Cup for Championship Double Sculls. Winning at this level really shows how much our focus on sculling has paid off over the last decade. It truly felt like a "coming-of-age moment" for our sculling program!
Our Championship Quad was just phenomenal. We'd been talking about how talented they are, and they really proved it, beating a GB composite crew "comfortably" in the final. We've got some serious future British scullers in that boat, including three who won bronze at the U23 World Rowing Championships last summer. How cool is that?
Then there's our 'A' crew in the Championship Double Sculls, who also brought home the W Peer Cup. They were on fire right from the start, grabbing 1st place in the time trial with a scorching time of 05:07.9. Even our 'B' crew did awesome, coming in 4th! It just shows the depth of talent we have here.
A Program Built for Success
We had 7 crews entered in the regatta, and every single one of them powered through the time-trial stages to get themselves ready for the head-to-head races. Even if not every crew brought home a trophy, their strong showings across the board—from aspirational to champ events—really demonstrates the strength and comprehensive nature of our program.
It's clear that all our hard work and strategic focus on sculling for the past ten years is truly "bearing fruit." This wasn't just about individual athletes shining; it's about our whole club's systematic approach to developing talent. We're building a strong pipeline for future scullers, and our performance at Henley Women's Regatta 2025 is a landmark event in our growing sculling legacy. We're definitely proving we're "sculling powerhouses"!
