HENLEY ROYAL REGATTA 2025

This year’s regatta saw 24 current RUBC athletes tackle the 2,112m course and all that comes with.

Prince of Wales:
12 of those athletes competed in the Prince of Wales with three full RUBC quads - our largest contingent since 2018. RUBC ‘B’ and ‘C’ valiantly bowed out on the Thursday, with RUBC ‘A’ confidently navigating their way to the Saturday, where they were eventually bettered by eventual winners from a @bonner_ruder_gesellschaft composite. Congratulations to that crew.

Princess Grace:
RUBC successfully qualified two full quads for this premier event for the first time in our history. A true testament to the ever-growing depth of our women’s squad. The RUBC ‘B’ campaign ended after a brave Friday race, whereas RUBC ‘A’ sailed through to the Saturday until met their match in a strong crew from Ruder-Club Potsdam e.V.

Queen Mother:
RUBC had 4 athletes racing in the Queen Mother, the club’s first representation in this event since a winning composite in 2015, and first full Reading crew since 1999. This crew faced a tough task in attempting to overturn the outfit from Rowing Australia. After a spirited start from RUBC, the Australians showed their quality and ended RUBC’s run.

Town and Remenham:
Masters student Daisy Bellamy was the sole RUBC representative in these two exceptional boats fielded by the GB team. Making a Henley final in itself is an impressive feat, but to final in two events is exceptional. Both Daisy’s crews raced ferociously but just fell short to crews from Hollandia Roeiclub. The club is exceptionally proud to be represented by Daisy.

Alumni:
RUBC had a large number of alumni racing across 8 different events, with many progressing deep into the regatta. We’re especially proud of Rory, Edo, Laurence and Sean for their wins in the Queen Mother, Wyfold and Thames Cup respectively. Seeing alumni continue to enjoy the sport, wearing their RUBC blazers and supporting current students (even as a last minute sub) is one of the most special features of the regatta. Well done to all clams past and present💜.
