A Weekend to Remember: 2026 BUCS Regatta
Go Clams - VL winners 2026
After a long, demanding, and ultimately unforgettable four days at Holme Pierrepont, the team is back in Reading, still processing what just happened. To say we are proud would be an understatement!
This year, RUBC did something we truly didn’t think was possible: we’re came home with the Triple Crown, having won the Overall, Men’s, and Women’s Victor Ludorum trophies.
It was a full team effort
It Takes a Team
While the final count of 30 medals (15 gold, 7 silver, and 8 bronze) is a record for us, the numbers don't tell the whole story. They don't show the early mornings on the river, the freezing winter sessions, or the way the squad stayed on the bank until the very last race to cheer each other on.
Winning the Triple Crown is a massive milestone, especially as a sculling-only program. It’s a reflection of the heart our athletes put into their training and the quiet dedication of everyone working behind the scenes to keep the boats moving.
Moments That Defined the Weekend
It wasn't just about the wins at the Championship level; it was about the spirit shown across the entire club:
The Power of the Squad: Seeing both the Men’s and Women’s sides find such consistent success at the same time was a special experience for all of us.
A Milestone Year: Following our Centenary celebrations, this feels like a wonderful way to honor the rowers who came before us. We’re just the current stewards of a very special tradition.
The Next Generation: Watching our Beginners and Intermediate scullers step up and deliver under pressure was perhaps the most rewarding part of the weekend.
Thank You
A huge thank you to BUCS and the officials for making the event happen, and to our fellow competitors for the incredible racing—you certainly didn't make it easy for us.
We’re going to take a moment to enjoy this as a team before we get back to work for the summer season. There’s a lot of rowing still to do, and we’re looking forward to every bit of it.
"To walk away with the Triple Crown is more than we ever expected. This result belongs to the students who have put in the hours on the water and the miles on the erg. We are just so lucky to have such a committed group representing the University of Reading."
