BUCS regatta 2025
RUBC celebrated its most successful British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) Regatta to date, securing the men's Victor Ludorum title. The team topped the medal table with an impressive haul of 18 medals – nine gold, five silver, and four bronze – at Europe's largest student rowing event, held at Holme Pierrepont from May 2-5.
RUBC dominated the sculling events, winning gold in all four quad categories (men's and women's Intermediate and Championship) and claiming a thrilling victory in the Championship men's singles, where Matt Long narrowly defeated Oxford Brookes' Filip Pfeifer. Newcastle University secured the women's and overall Victor Ludorum.
Will Rand, RUBC Director of Rowing, praised the "historic performance" and the "dedication and talent throughout our squad," highlighting the club's focus on sculling excellence. He also emphasized the collective effort of the entire club and their ambition to top the overall Victor Ludorum in the University's centenary year, 2026. RUBC now shifts its focus to the summer regatta season, including the prestigious Henley Royal Regatta.
